Lockdown: One nation one ration card scheme started in Himachal, migrant laborers will get relief

Shimla, Himachal Pradesh also implemented One Nation One Ration Card Scheme for migrant laborers. The Central Government has allocated 2864.46 tonnes of food items to the state for this. It was launched from Shimla by Chief Minister Jairam Thakur on Monday. So far it has been started in about 15 states of the country. People coming under the National Food Security Act of these states will be able to take flour and rice from anywhere.

Families falling in this category of Himachal who work in other states will be able to take ration there.

For this scheme, these people will not need to make a separate ration card and on the ration card of their states, flour rice will be available in other states as well. People under the National Food Security Act are being provided flour at the rate of Rs 3.20 per kg, three kg per person and two kg rice at the rate of Rs 3 per kg.

Under the scheme, the Inter-State Portability Scheme of Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department has been started. This will be done under the National Portability Scheme of ration cards and the scheme will benefit about 67 crore people of the country. Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Sanjay Kundu, Secretary Food and Civil Supplies Amitabh Awasthi and Director Food and Civil Supplies Abid Hussain Sadiq were also present on the occasion.

6.80 lakh families in the state

There are 6.80 lakh families in the state who fall under this category. Presently there are 18.50 lakh ration card holders in the state. Of these, 6.80 lakh families are being given five kilograms of free rice in the Corona crisis.
